“Oiling Out”

It looks like some learned practical instruction is finally making its way on to YouTube.  The trick is finding them.  Surprisingly, the keywords “oiling out” produced some interesting results:

Both videos above plug each company’s respective products, which in both cases recommend a painting medium.  As I only use walnut oil as my binder/medium, I wonder if I could simply cut that with Sansador or turp and use that?

A good forum post on Wet Canvas on oiling out… though it would appear there is some confusion between the use of a medium to solve the problem vs. retouch varnish.

Update: I’ve been satisfied with the Winsor & Newton Painting Medium as a medium for oiling out… and as a dry-to-the-touch end-of-painting varnish.
