Description
This painting was started on location in September of 2018. As I often now do, I take plein air paintings into the studio and develop them further through experimentation. It is strange how the latter affects memory: I was certain it was grey day when I first painted it, but as you can see from the photo take on that very day, quite the contrary.
None the less, I’m pleased with he result. The quality of light reminds me of a painting I used to admire in the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna, before it was removed, along with many of the other works that once glorified those walls… but that’s another story.
