Watercolors from the Grand Canyon

I’m finally getting around to bringing over all remaining images from the old website.  Here are the watercolors I made while traveling 14 days down the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon in September of 2008.

Some comments on the images that I’ve carried over from the old website:

October 11th, 2008 by Richard Wanderman comments on The Concert at Black Tail Canyon:

This is a wonderful painting Tim. I can feel the drop about to happen.

My reply on October 11th:

Thank you, Richard. Very interesting interpretation. You’ve made me see this image in a whole new way!

I hate to ruin it for you, but we were actually on land for this one in a side canyon called Black Tail. The red in the lower part of the composition was a large rock that rose up in front of my view (as opposed to water). Of all the Grand Canyon images, this might have been the one I struggled with the most, especially in terms of trying to get the light. In fact, I almost feel it got to the point of overkill… but I found that many in the group responded favorably to it when they were all shown at the end of the trip.

On October 18th, 2008, Cass commented on La Luna Cade Sopra Lava Canyon (Mile 61):

This is the watercolor I wanted for myself. I am a child of the night, this piece takes me back to peaceful dreams and being lulled to sleep by the sound of the river.

On October 23rd, 2008, Bree Crocetti commented on View of South Canyon with Agave Plant (Mile 31):

This one is really beautiful. I love the colors.

Beautiful.  I feel like I’m standing there.  You captured the feel of nature.
