Begun in July of 2014 and completed November 7th shortly after a week-long trip to London, which included a visit to “Rembrandt: The Late Works” at the National Gallery.  (The ruff was in the works prior to the trip, but for matters of flesh, form and materials, Rembrandt affirms that excellence can only mean getting it right.)  A tip of the hat to Rembrandt’s Portrait of Margherita de Geer, Michael Harding’s Stack Lead White and the ever-unfolding opportunities that only working from life can offer (had the model not suddenly gotten cold, where would the red shawl have come from?).  Arianna, sei stata bravissima.
